During those years I learned more often than I dare admit that Mother Nature was boss, and could smack me a painful whopper whenever she felt like it. This week we have seen yet again people trying to defy the forces of Mother Nature and refusing to get out of her way, and leave their plywood and vinyl-sided shelters. The image given by the constant reporting by CNN and the Weather Channel is that you can be there and be OK. The reporters are tethered to concrete pillars, usually by steel cables. They can Cut and Run for their concrete bunkers in high rise hotels at any time. Joe Sixpack on the other hand is sitting in his recliner watching the power go out and with nothing but a thin shell made out of wood finished off with even thinner vinyl sidings. Even worse if in a Mobile Home. There are times in life to look at Mother Nature and say "We are out of here, Now!" If these storms can pick up an Oil Rig and move it hundreds of miles, before dropping it like a discarded paper cup, then it's time to take notice and move to safety. The Fisherman's Studio
Today we have a far greater range of fabrics, technologies and design needs, yet the needs remain the same, and the basic concepts are just as valid. The technologies and materials make satisfying those needs easier, and in most cases with a much higher level of comfort and serviceability. Today we have resources beyond our imagination back in 1975, from computers to miniature television cameras that can show us how lures and materials handle underwater, or in extreme conditions. The Fisherman's Studio has embraced the multimedia advances and in 2003 began developing it's own TV and Radio Studio. The ability to shoot digital video in the studio, and on location greatly helps with developing media and seeing the conditions, and expected results of equipment, clothing and training. |
